The Hindi film industry is elated after music maestro A.R. Rahman triumphed at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards by scooping two golden gramophones. From Gulzar and Javed Akhtar to Shyam Benegal and Subhash Ghai, all feel he has taken Indian music places and made the country proud.

Members of Bollywood praised the dedication of the 44-year-old, who is also a double Oscar winner. This is what they had to say.

Gulzar: We all are very proud of him. This magical musician has brought more honour to India, his family, fans, friends and his entire team. Such a young man has made his mark on the music map of the world. All of us should put him on our shoulders.

Javed Akhtar: He is great! Rahman has taken India’s music places.

Imtiaz Ali: It fills me with pride. Also makes me think if he is getting this much accolade for ‘Jai ho’, wonder what the reaction of the West will be when they discover the rest of Rahman? I’m waiting to see the man go from strength to strength.

Shyam Benegal: Fantastic…Rahman is the greatest.

‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ which stars the unusual pair of Farhan Akhtar and gorgeous Deepika Padukone in the lead also marks the debut of writer-director Vijay Lalwani.

Writing is Vijay Lalwani’s first love and so perfect is he at that, that the script of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ was flawless, up until the climate forced him to alter a scene in the film. Yes you did read right, Vijay had to change just one part of the story due to weather!

Speaking on the re-written scene Vijay explains, “We shot the entire film as per the script, expect one scene which I had to re-write. The scene was when Farhan Akhtar was to propose Deepika Padukone; it was a very integral part of the film.” Vijay continues, “I knew that I had to shoot that scene in a very grand way with loads of sunshine and it had to be an outdoor shot, but because it was June it was pouring…

So, we thought to shoot the scene in October, but when we started shooting, it rained on that particular day so at the last moment we decided to shelve the plan and go ahead with the proposal in rain, that’s where I re-wrote the script.”

Looks like Vijay has really drained himself while writing the script of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ (no pun). Going by the buzz for the movie it seems as a favorite among the youth who are eagerly awaiting its release on 26th February 2010.

Shilpa Shetty-Kundra has signed Nagesh Kukunoor as the director of her first production venture.

Back from her honeymoon, Shilpa is now busy with both her IPL commitments and her production house. With the new IPL season just around the corner, though Shilpa is very busy at the moment, she is also keen that she sets her S2 Global Productions in motion too.

Even though she has not decided on the star cast of the film Nagesh Kukunoor is to direct, Shilpa has confirmed that it would be a love story.

Nagesh has in the past made critically acclaimed films like “Hyderabad Blues” and “Iqbal”, but later he somewhat lost his grip and films such as “8×10 Tasveer” and “Bombay to Bangkok” bombed at the box-office.

However, Shilpa has now shown great faith in him. She had shortlisted many filmmakers but finally went in for Nagesh because she is sure he will deliver something out of the way.

Earlier Shilpa had plans to re launch Shamita’s career with her production house but she hasn’t confirmed anything on that front.
